The Stillwater Police Department’s Community Outreach Program, C.O.P., will be hosting their 2nd Annual “Cops and Bobbers” Youth Fishing event on Saturday, May 6th from 10a-1p at Boomer Lake. The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife will be hosting a fishing clinic in conjunction with the event which will include educational instruction in fish identification, casting, knot tying and other fishing etiquette. All fishing poles, bait and necessary gear will be provided but participants may also bring their own. Participating kids will also get free hotdogs and other cool give-a-ways while supplies last and there will be prizes available for kids competing in the casting contest.
Local Law Enforcement from the Stillwater Police Department, Payne County Sheriff’s Office, OSU Police Department and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife will be on hand to interact and fish with the kids. The C.O.P. is made up of members from the Stillwater Police Department, Payne County Sheriff’s Office, OSU Police Department, Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Citizen’s Academy Alumni Group. All programs are made possible solely through donations from our generous citizens and businesses and hosted on the COP Members’ own time. The C.O.P. also hosts an annual Citizen’s Academy, National Night Out, Shop With a Cop and the Positive Ticket Program to name a few.
