The start-up process can be confusing but we are here to help by providing you with the resources you will need to be a successful business owner.
Here are the basics that apply to almost all new business start-ups. Follow the Start Up Steps with Oklahoma Department of Commerce.
1. Determine your business name and business structure Register Your Trade Name
2. Determine if you need a Federal Identification Number. For more information, visit IRS.gov Employer ID Numbers
3. Register your business with the appropriate state agencies. For assistance determining which applications, permits, licenses, or registrations are required, use the Oklahoma Department of Commerce’s Business Licensing and Operating Requirements.

The Oklahoma Secretary of State - This includes checking name availability and reserving your trade name
The Oklahoma Tax Commission - Download Forms / Attend a New Business Workshop
The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission - This applies only if you have employees.
