Stillwater’s February 2019 sales tax collections fall below projections by 2.79 percent

STILLWATER, Okla. (March 4, 2019) – The City of Stillwater collected $2,254,350 in sales tax from December 2018 transactions that were reported to the Oklahoma Tax Commission in January 2019 and apportioned to the City in February 2019.

This is a decrease from February 2018 collections by $79,833 (3.42 percent), a decrease year-to-date of $1,760 (0.01 percent) and collections fell below projections for February 2019 by $64,722 (2.79 percent).

The City of Stillwater’s use tax collections in February 2019 was $240,040, which is up $43,972 (22.43 percent) from February 2018, down year-to-date by $28,995 (1.92 percent) and above projections for February 2019 by $92,259 (62.43 percent).

Hotel/motel tax remitted to the City in January 2019 on December 2018 transactions totaled $38,517, which is down from January 2018 collections by $6,173 (13.81 percent), under year-to-date by $26,696 (5.33 percent) and above projections for January 2019 by $631 (1.67 percent).
