(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / March 4, 2020) –
The City of Stillwater’s February sales and use tax collection totaled $2,653,069. The collection is based off December 2019 transactions that were reported to the Oklahoma Tax Commission in January 2020 and apportioned to the City in February 2020.
This is an increase from February 2019 total collections by $158,679 (6.36 percent) and collections exceeded budget projections for February 2020 by $240,363 (9.96 percent).
The City of Stillwater’s sales tax collections in February 2020 was $2,359,393, which is up $105,043 (4.66 percent) from February 2019 and exceeded budget projections for February 2020 by $113,682 (5.06 percent).
The City of Stillwater’s use tax collections in February 2020 was $293,676, which is up $53,636 (22.34 percent) from February 2019 and exceeded budget projections for February 2020 by $126,681 (75.86 percent).
As of July 2019, the City no longer collects lodging tax payments directly. Lodging tax is collected by the Oklahoma Tax Commission, who began remitting payments to the City in September 2019 for taxes collected in July 2019, resulting in a difference in timing of tax revenue receipts.
Hotel/motel tax remitted to the City in January 2020 totaled $56,038, which is up from February 2019 collections by $17,521 (45.49 percent), and exceeded budget projections by $16,164 (40.54 percent).
