(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / Aug. 31, 2020) – We did it again! For the 38th consecutive year, the City of Stillwater was recognized for its excellence in financial reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
The City received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2019 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). This certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment for a government and its management.
“The Finance Department takes pride in being good stewards of public funds, and this includes being transparent on how we use them,” Finance Director Christy Cluck said. “We are honored to receive this award yet again.”
The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving over 20,000 government finance professionals and government officials with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
The CAFR can be read and downloaded at http://stillwater.org/document-center/detail/id/307.
